ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS LAUNCHED!

The CRFM's 20th Anniversary Celebrations was officially launched on Monday, 27 March 2023. This event featured official speakers and guest presentations, marking the accomplishments of the CRFM since its inception in 2003.

  • Official Launch

On 27 March 2023, the CRFM--along with its stakeholders and partners--commemorated 20 years of hard work, dedication, and oustanding achievements to the Caribbean, as well as internationally. Since the establishment of the CRFM in 2003, we have worked arduously towards the sector's development, as well as the improvement of fisheries management to help ensure sustainable fisheries and livelihoods for those we serve. We remain committed to working with our Member States towards this cause! This year serves not just as a time of commemoration but also as a period of serious reflection on a more vibrant, prosperous, and secure future for the Caribbean!

  • Announcement

Over the past 20 years, the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism has played a leading role in addressing fisheries issues and priorities on the international stage.  In October 2022, Ministers announced the official anniversary celebrations and issued a statement. Here, 3 CRFM policymakers (Ministers from Belize, Jamaica & Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) partnered with the Minister of Fisheries (Norway) to boldly address the challenge of Illegal, Unregulated, and Unreported (IUU) Fishing and Transnational Organized Crime in the global fishing industry. The CRFM partnered with Norway to host a side event at the 2022 UN Ocean Conference.  Photo: Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.

  • Upcoming Events

The CRFM will convene a series of events during this year, including seminars, workshops, webinars, and a 3-day scientific conference. The events will be held mostly in virtual or hybrid format, to maximize the opportunities for stakeholders and partners to attend and participate. These will be held throughout the course of the year. We will be posting updates on our events calendar, accessible on this page. Additionally, the CRFM will hold a series of thematic events around the Caribbean Week of Agriculture, and its Special Ministerial Meeting slated for October 2023. We will update this page regularly with more information on these events.
